Editorial standards, sources & corrections
GafferLens is an analytical database. These are the rules we hold ourselves to when recording, publishing and correcting information about managers.
Last updated 21 August 2026
Sourcing
Factual records — appointments, departures, contract status, career spells and match records — are entered from club and competition announcements and established football reporting, and are stored with the date the record was last verified.
Where a fact cannot be verified to that standard, the record shows "not publicly confirmed" rather than an estimate.
Confidence levels
Every analytical judgement carries one of three levels. High confidence means a long, consistent sample at a comparable level. Medium means a usable but incomplete sample. Developing means a short sample — usually a recent appointment — where the assessment is expected to change.
Freshness
Manager profiles display the date they were last reviewed. Records reviewed more than 90 days ago are flagged internally for re-verification, and coverage counts on the Leagues page are derived from live club-to-manager relationships rather than typed in.
Corrections
If a factual record here is wrong, we want to fix it. Send the manager name, the specific field, the correct value and a public source to corrections@gafferlens.com. Verified factual corrections are applied and the review date updated.
Disagreement with an analytical rating is not a correction, but we log substantive challenges and revisit the underlying model.
Beta status
GafferLens is in open beta. Coverage is expanding league by league, ratings are provisional, and some profiles are deliberately marked as developing rather than being filled with unsupported detail. See the methodology →
